UpliftHER Initiative: Period Poverty

A trunkload of menstrual products collected by Soroptimist Oak Harbor was delivered to I Support the Girls - Whidbey Island, WA as part of our #SoroptimistsUpliftHER Period Poverty initiative for May. The items will be provided to women and girls on Whidbey Island who face difficulty accessing or affording essential period products. This includes homeless, people fleeing abusive and trafficking situations, natural disaster survivors, refugees, low income, incarcerated women and girls and anyone who has a need for whatever reason. This widespread issue, known as period poverty, often leads to absenteeism from work and school, negatively impacting their future.

If you'd like to donate funds towards this effort, you can do so through our "Donate" button on this site.  In the dropdown box for the purpose of the donation select "Other" and then include a note and indicate "Period Poverty"
