Financial Support for Local Nonprofits

Community Assistance Grants

We support local nonprofits that uplift women and girls on Whidbey Island through education and training.

Soroptimist International of Oak Harbor continuously accepts applications from local nonprofits for funding through our Community Assistance Grants program. Priority is given to projects that improve the lives of women and girls on Whidbey Island who are facing obstacles. Though programs providing education and training resulting in economic empowerment are preferred, requests for local community initiatives and programs that do not specifically address these needs may also be considered.

How it works

Applications for our community assistance grants are accepted year-round, with funding decisions based on the number of women and girls served, the needs and capacity of the requesting organization, and the project's potential to enhance access to education and training. To ensure timely decisions, please submit your request 60-90 days before the funds are needed. Organizations are eligible for one grant per calendar year. The contact person listed should be closely involved with the project and ready to oversee it throughout the grant period. Previous grant recipients are welcome to apply for additional funding.

We particularly welcome initiatives that aim to provide education and training for economic empowerment, especially those focused on women and girls facing challenges such as poverty, unstable home environments, foster care, language or cultural barriers, substance abuse, homelessness, illness, disability, or teen motherhood.
