When our community comes together, we can turn awareness into real, life-changing action!
As part of our current focus on the barriers surrounding period poverty, Soroptimist Oak Harbor members rolled up their sleeves for our #SoroptimistsUpliftHER initiative. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our members and supporters, we collected close to 1,500 essential period products!
We are absolutely thrilled to share that these collected products have been officially delivered to the Whidbey Island chapter of "I Support the Girls."
This wonderful local organization specializes in ensuring these critical supplies get directly into the hands of women and girls who are experiencing homelessness, impoverishment, or distress right here in our own community.
What does this delivery mean for our neighbors?
Local Relief: This donation will directly help approximately 75 local women and girls safely manage their periods.
Restoring Dignity: Access to basic hygiene products allows individuals to stand tall, go about their days, and live with the dignity they deserve.
Breaking the Cycle: By providing these supplies locally, we help ensure that financial hardship doesn't force women and girls to compromise their health or miss out on daily opportunities.
A huge thank you to every club member who donated, organized, and helped transport these items, and to I Support the Girls - Whidbey Island, WA for the vital work they do every day. Together, we are breaking the silence, ending the stigma, and truly uplifting the women and girls in our community!
