Members of Soroptimist International of Oak Harbor, in partnership with representatives from I Support the Girls - Whidbey Island, WA, made a meaningful impact last week by delivering essential items to the offices of REST | Real Escape from the Sex Trade in Seattle. The donation included laptops, underwear, bras, and toiletries—critical resources for women and girls affected by human trafficking.

This initiative was part of Soroptimist Oak Harbor’s #SoroptimistsUpliftHER campaign, which focuses on addressing human trafficking and supporting survivors during January and February. By providing these much-needed supplies, the organizations aim to offer tangible assistance to those seeking a way out of exploitation and a fresh start.
The laptops, funded by Soroptimist Oak Harbor, will be awarded to female clients of REST who have applied for the opportunity. Selected recipients will use the devices to search for jobs, develop career skills, and work towards financial independence.
REST plays a vital role in the community, assisting individuals who wish to exit the sex trade and rebuild their lives. In the past year alone, over 800 individuals reached out to REST for services, demonstrating the ongoing need for support and resources.
Soroptimist Oak Harbor remains committed to uplifting and empowering women and girls through education, advocacy, and direct aid, making a difference in the fight against human trafficking.
